yesterday and definitely a morning to bundle up. 24 in allentown, 24 in wilmington, 24 in reading. just 19 degrees in millville and 29 in sea isle city. as we head out the door to get that car warmed up or maybe to head toward the bus stop we have 24 degrees by 6 o'clock and 26 degrees by 8 o'clock. mainly clear but obviously cold. and there might even be a little bit of breeze occasionally bugging you as you walk around today. storm tracker 6 app right now shows 28. 26 by 8 o'clock and then by noon 32 degrees and 34 by 3 o'clock with a high of 35 degrees. we'll probably hit that around 2 o'clock. not that it's going to make big difference. by 6 o'clock, clear skies and 31. we'll have your new year's eve midnight forecast as well as the mummers day call coming up matt. >> ready to can kick 2014 out the door. yeah, fresh start is always nice, isn't it dave? we're getting a fresh start on the ramp this morning. they just reopened it yesterday, the one from spring garden street to the westbound side of the schuylkill expressway. had been closed for the last few months but it's opened for your ride this morning as you

come away from the art museum and the lanes are nice and opened on the schuylkill itself. no issues on 95, either. traffic is moving just fine. crash in upper salford on schwenksville road. they're still working to retrieve this vehicle that ran off the roadway in east greenwich gloucester county. new jersey turnpike southbound approaching exit two for 322 but all the activity is off to the side so the lanes are old. we have some construction activity in penns grove along 130 southbound past 48 harding highway blocking the right lane for the next half hour. matt and tam. >> thank you matt. we begin with new developments in operation to recover airasia flight 8501. several media outlets are reporting that sonar has picked up the plane upside down beneath the surface of the java sea. >> however abc news is telling us that they're hearing conflicting reports on this and that they've not been able to confirm that information. >> "action news" reporter katherine scott is following these details live from the satellite center. katherine.

>> reporter: matt and tam that's right, there are multiple reports that sonar equipment has detected wreckage at the bottom of the sea but it's unclear what kind of condition that wreckage is in if it's broken up or if it's in one piece. we learned overnight that seven bodies have been recovered, two of those bodies have now arrived to a military air strip at the airport where many loved ones are gathering. grief from family members traveling to a seaside town near the crash site where they'll identify the remains of their loved ones. overnight we learned that seven victims of the airasia crash have been recovered from the java sea. four of the bodies were male and three female. one was a flight attendant identified by her red uniform. >> this is a horrible, horrible experience but we'll try to do our best. >> reporter: 162 souls were on board airasia flight 8501 when it disappeared halfway through a two hour flight from indonesia to singapore. the international search has involved dozens of planes

ships and helicopters. the chief of the indonesian search and rescue says the team has retrieved pieces of the plane along with a blue suitcase. no word on why the plane went down. >> the question is what would have caused that? was eight bomb? structural failure? what could have brought this airplane down catastrophically. >> reporter: and we are being told that weather in the area has hindered the search efforts. high surf, winds strong current and that inclement weather could be in that area for the next couple days. we're live in the satellite center, katherine scott channel6 "action news." matt. >> katherine thanks. we're following a developing story here. police believe icy road conditions caused a box truck to overturn in delaware overnight. the action cam was at this scene, the 1000 block of south hill street in wilmington after 11:00 p.m. the truck was carrying newspapers and overturned on an icy bridge. the driver had to be cut out from the wreckage. police have not released his condition.

an armed bandit pulled off a robbery is a at a 7-eleven in that philadelphia overnight. this happened at the convenience store on the 6000 block of rising sun avenue in the lawndale section of the city. police say the man demanded cash from the clerk at 1:30 a.m. made off with some money and some cigarettes. witnesses say the man had took off towards fan shaw street. no one was hurt. >> we're learn morgue about the suspect shot and killed by police in delaware county yesterday. authorities say he had been arrested in the past for making terroristic threats. >> to try to arrest me, okay. now, consequently there will be serious and irreversible catastrophic consequences. >> 52-year-old joseph anthony pacini posted video rants like this one on youtube threatening law enforcement. multiple agencies went to his home yesterday afternoon but he managed to get into his car and take off. officers followed him into drexel hill and that's where

police say things really escalated. >> they attempted to stop him. he threw the car in reverse. he ran into the chief of police car from clifton and tried to run over several other officers who were around the car. >> police say they opened fire because they feared for their lives. investigators also say that pacini had a history of mental illness. >> philadelphia police are asking for your help to find the person who attacked a pregnant woman. surveillance video shows the 41-year-old victim walking along the 100 block of manton street in south philadelphia back on december 22nd and seconds later here a man runs up behind her without warning and punches the woman in the side of the head, knocking her to the ground then grabs her purse and a bag of food she was carrying. the woman was treated for an eye injury. south jersey police say they have arrested the man who secretly recorded a woman in her own bathroom plus another woman and they're trying to figure out if there are more

victims. the woman says 25-year-old carl camp jr. of magnolia had visited her home in gloucester township and believes he set up a cell phone in her bathroom. police discovered a second woman had also been secretly recorded. camp is charged with invasion of privacy. >> and happening today a man charged in that deadly accident that killed three bucks county teenagers is scheduled to learn his fate today. 53-year-old michael ware covered his face as he walked inside court yesterday. he requested a preliminary hearing to determine if the case against him is strong enough to go to trial and a ruling on that is expected today. ware is charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly letting his 15-year-old daughter drive his suv in the poconos over labor day weekend. also happening today the philadelphia school district is working over the holidays to help some parents get their kids into a new school before classes resume on monday. the abrupt closure of the walter palmer charter school

leaves 600 students in k through eight without anywhere to go. school district staffers are now working overtime. the school district's office in spring garden will be opened early today and on friday. enrollment can also be done online. >> 5:38 now. as we prepare to say goodbye to 2014 party preps are in full swing. it will get down to the mid-20's tonight but at least it will be clear for tonight's fireworks displays. the action cam caught crews at the philadelphia naval yard getting things ready. the first display on the riverfront happens at 6:00 p.m. the second at midnight. you can watch them as they go off on the philadelphia and camden sides of the delaware river. then the mummers kick offer the new year with their annual parade. our broadcast partner phl17 is the official home of the mummers and the only place to watch the parade live on new year's day. if you're not heading out to see in it person, you can catch full coverage starting tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. on phl17. >> and if you're going to be out tonight looking at fireworks or doing anything else you better bundle up.

>> yeah, you better. lots of layers and lots of extra gear. storm tracker 6 live double scan right now shows us that we're dry and as we head o outside we have sky 6 and we're looking at the shore down south. of course the last couple days we had a little sprinkle and even some snowflakes down the shore but not this morning. temperature right now is 28 degrees. it is colder than it was yesterday and even yesterday was colder than the day before so this morning definitely a morning to bundle up. winds out of the northwest at 10 and your wind chills are making it feel about four, 5 degrees cooler than the temperature. satellite shows that you the closest cloud cover is well out to the west and it's kind of starting to fall apart. we think today is going to be mostly sunny the way things are working out but it will be pretty cold, too. 26 degrees by 8 o'clock, 31 by 11 o'clock and there's your high at 2 o'clock 35 degrees. feeling like it's in the upper 20's in all likelihood because of that breeze. and 5 o'clock temperature is back down to the freezing mark. high temperatures a little bit of a range. up close to 40 in some spots like cape may and atlantic city but own 32 for a high up in allentown and 35 in philadelphia right in between.

happy new year, everyone as the new year's eve celebrations roll in tonight it is going to be cold. 31 degrees by 6 o'clock and at midnight in philadelphia, 28 degrees with a wind chill down around 20 so definitely bundle up. of course it will be a little bit cooler than that in some outlying suburbs in case you're out there ringing in the new year. for the mummers parade tomorrow sunshine again but breezy, brisk and cold. 32 degrees by 10 o'clock at the start of the parade. by 2 o'clock 37 and by 6 o'clock back down to 34 degrees feeling like it's in the 20's most of the afternoon. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, 35, brisk and cold today. 38 tomorrow, lots of sunshine for new year's day but a bundler. on friday we start to improve a little bit. increasing clouds but a high of 44. saturday 40 degrees with clouds increasing during the day and on saturday night especially in the evening there is the chance of some rain arriving and some models are suggesting that in particular in the northern and western suburbs this could start out as a little bit of an icy mix so i would take

care driving on saturday night especially at the onset of precipitation as we might have some quick brief icing before a changeover to rain. and then on sunday morning some early rain is possible. otherwise, fairly cloudy and windy. a mild high of 56. and there could be some sun breaking out later in the day. monday and tuesday we're back into the 30's. 36 degrees windy and colder on monday. and 34 on tuesday but fortunately no precipitation in sight. tuesday night into wednesday morning maybe a flurry or just a real quick hit of like a coating of snow in a couple of neighborhoods but that -- >> that's next year. >> yeah. >> ♪♪ >> welcome back. you're taking a live look here at the platt bridge. it's 5:45, 29 degrees. we see some traffic out there but things will be pretty light on this holiday morning. if you have to go outside to walk the dog get the newspaper make sure you bundle up. >> it's cold out there. you know those bridges could be icy matt. >> absolutely, yeah. if there were any wet spots last night they're obviously going to be frozen this morning. good idea to keep an eye out for. that matt and tam some people lover the year end reviews some people hate them. we'll do one this morning on the roadways. 2014 on the roads. what happened around our region? well, we got our third lane in each direction here along 202 in the malvern area. that was good news. traffic moving well through the ongoing zone this morning because they're still working between 401 and 30. they'll be doing that again in

2015. no complaints there. elsewhere in chester county we got our new park and ride lot at the intersection where 30 and 322 come together. that opened back in june. they also reopened the 322 bridge over brandywine creek. construction there wrapped up this year. and they started the widening project along route 100 between lionville and exton. that work will continue into the new year. traffic throughout chester county moving well so far this morning. 2014 saw a number of new traffic patterns along 422 in the ongoing work zones a couple of them in pottstown the one between stone route 100, everything moving along fine through there this morning and they started work this year here in bucks county along 213 the maple avenue bridge over neshaminy creek. that work is going to continue until 2016. they wrapped up the work along 291 over darby creek and everything in delco along 95 and the blue route looks good so far this morning. speaking of the blue route let's talk about 476 the northeast extension with the commuter report. one of the members of our 6abc "action news" commuter team

talking about animals near the road near the northeast extension in milford township. matt. >> thanks, matt. a mother was killed in a terrible accident inside an idaho wal-mart yesterday. investigators say her toddler accidentally shot her. it happened as the 29-year-old woman shopped with several of her children. her two-year-old son was sitting in a shopping cart with herpes when he grabbed the handgun inside it and somehow pulled the trigger. wal-mart was evacuated as a precaution. no one else was hurt. "the interview," the film that sparked an international incident and north korea will released in canadian theaters later this week. nourse says its unless indicates north korea was not behind the cyber attack. it says information points to a inside job by a disgruntled sony employee. the fbi is not backing down on its claim that north korea is responsible. >> we're now looking forward to 2015 so fyi philly has a

celebrations tonight right tam? >> i'm looking forward to that means. okay, thank you david. police in dover delaware are hoping you can identify this suspected identity thief. surveillance photos were obtained after tracing fraudulent charges to a woman in new york. police say the suspect opened store credit cards in the new york woman's name, charging thousands of dollars worth of items at stores in kent county. there's also a photo of the vehicle that the suspect may be driving. you see it right there. if you have any information call police at (302)741-2808. new here on "action news" a texas man says a burglar broke into his home and passed out in his guest bedroom. the homeowner was preparing to head to the airport when he noticed one of his bags was on. he grabbed his gun and starter to do look through each room and he found that bag and with it the man was asleep in a guest bedroom. he finally woke up when officers dragged him out of bed. the suspect now faces charges

the suspect trio in the same outfits on a live camera feed at a subway stop in philadelphia. >> and i was like oh wait a minute, you know, they were the guys right there referencing the cell phone theft. >> septa police arrested 18 year old raekwon jackson and a juvenile. >> his beloved canine companion bess is missing. police think the dog was stolen by someone claiming to be acting in bess' best interest. a woman approached walter fairbrother of burlington back in october. she claimed she was from an animal rescue organization and offered to spay bess clip her nails and return her in a few days. fairbrother says he never came back. >> i just went into depression really. i didn't come out of this house hardly. >> bess is a cane course so a highly valid breed in italy. fairbrother believes the woman stole the dog for breeding purposes. if you have any information contact riverside township police.
